A {True} Love Story

Wow! A whole year since I last blogged?? I really need to get my booty into gear and update more often. Clearly.

Anyways, the reason behind wanting to update this blog is for me to tell you all a special story about one of my favorite couples on the planet.
I got an email several months ago from a good friend telling me about a couple looking to get their family portraits done with their 2 Jack Russell Terriers. Having owned 2 JRT's myself I knew it was going to be a fun session so I contacted them right away and we set a date to take the photos. Never did I know that a simple session would blossom into a friendship that I will cherish forever.

Remember this session?

Great looking couple and adorable pups, no? I knew you'd agree :)

Scott and Charlene have been through many struggles over the last year. You see, Scott was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer last summer and, as you can imagine, their life has never been the same. Scott has had to endure several tests, treatments and surgeries over the last year and unfortunately it wasn't enough to stop or slow down the nasty, disgusting and most hated disease from taking over his entire body. Almost every trip to the doctors office has been devastating for them.... "The scan is showing new masses", "the cancer has spread to another organ", "Scott only has a few months to live" "The cancer has taken over his body".... Things NOBODY ever wants to hear.

Yet through it all, the love Scott and Charlene have for each other hasn't faded one bit. From the many times I've talked to Char, she always gushes like a school girl talking about "her guy", "her knight in shining armor", her "soul mate" that is Scott. We've shared many tears but have also laughed several times when she has shared their story with me. It's the kind of love and adoration that many people wish they could have.

Having to face the reality of the situation, both Scott & Char both know that Scott does not have much time left on this earth. He recently decided to cease all chemotherapy treatments. But it's not because he's giving in, it is so he can live out his time here not feeling sick and exhausted every day. He wants to spend the time adoring his wife, sitting with his beloved dogs and enjoying time with his grandchildren.

A few weeks ago, when I was visiting Scott and Char, it made my heart ache to even mention it but I suggested that we take some photos of them together that she could cherish forever. We both knew if we waited any longer, we would regret it and it wasn't something either of us could stomach.

We were able to find a time when Scott was having a good day and had to wait for the weather to clear but we got these precious photos taken. Per Scott's request we took some "sweetheart" photos because he wanted to show the world just home much he loves and adores his wife. Again, we shared tears and laughs and my heart was full when I left that park. It didn't ache which is usually the case whenever I leave their home.

Like I said, I've only known Scott & Char for a few months but it feels like I've known them my whole life. The have taught me so much about faith, strength, determination and how strong true love can be through any obstacle you are faced with. I wish I could have gotten to know them sooner and, of course, under different circumstances. We don't have a business relationship, we have become great friends and I feel very blessed to have them both in my life. They both know they have my heart, my thoughts and my friendship during these difficult times.

So, with that I present you with some lovely photos of this fabulous couple!

I love you Scott & Charlene!

Introducing.... M.A.D. Love Photographers

So a very exciting venture has come under way for a few fabulous photographer friends and myself.
Denise Hummel is the brain child behind this and was generous enough to involve Amanda Lipsey and I in this opportunity to give back a little bit to our community. We've spent the last few months planning, organizing, researching & much more -- at last M.A.D. Love Photographers was born.

What is M.A.D. Love Photographers and why am I so excited about it?

Well.......M.A.D. stands for the initials of each of our names.

Michelle. Amanda. Denise.

And the Love? Cause clearly we love, love, love what we do.
We all have this passion inside to reach out and do more with our talent and our gifts, so we began this Non-Profit organization that supports charitable events and other heavy heart situations. We are going to be out there rockin our cameras and taking photos of some awesome events and also capturing some pretty memorable yet heartbreaking times in peoples lives.

So please check out the M.A.D. Love website here for updates and more information to come.

Much love,
Michelle

Comments & Followers... Can I get a HOLLA!?!?

Who knew how fun it would be to visit your own page that you just started yesterday to see that you already have not just comments but followers too?! OK, so it may not sound like much to have 1 comment and 3 followers but to a girl that held off as long as she could before actually doing a blog, it makes me wonder why I didn't so this sooner. I'm the type that just gets giddy about that kind of stuff. I love comments, I like seeing new fans on my Facebook Fan page. It just makes me feel better about what I do. A little boost in confidence I guess. And who doesn't like that?
So I'm gonna holla at the awesomeness of the followers and commenters. I appreciate you greatly.

And because no post should go without pictures, here's some photos of my own rugrats taken last night. They have always been my favorite subjects because they exude complete and utter beauty. But hey, I may be biased... who knows.

Ohhh how I love them. My heart and soul right there...

Baby D

A couple weeks ago my good friend gave birth to her 3rd child. We have been talking about doing newborn shots of him since the day she found out she was pregnant. So the time finally came and here's his (little late) debut.
Love him :)

Am in love with the fact that he was named in memory of one of his daddy's good friends.

Little Miss "A" Turns 1

I recently had the pleasure of shooting Miss A's one year photos. This adorable little girl was full of beautiful toothless grins from the start.

Her mom even dressed her in the most stylish outfits with big bows and skulls & crossbones.

So fun :)
Perfect shoot all around!

Tried to do some cake eating/smashing but she showed absolutely no interest... She had far more better things to do. Clearly.

A New Creative Outlet

Ok, so I've been told time and time again that a photography blog is a MUST. So why have I waited till now? Because I am a natural procrasinator... code word for severe adult ADD.

I actually have started a blog several times but failed to ever get anywhere with it.
And honestly? I really didn't want to do it. Just more thing to add to my never-ending To-Do list.

Until now... Now I have decided to suck it up and finally get this thing rolling.Who knows if anyone is really going to read it. Most likely it will be my family, a few friends and my fellow photog lady friends. Holla ladies! :)

But it will be another creative outlet for me to display my love and passion for photography and I'm looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

So thanks for being patient with me in this new venture. My goal is to update weekly and I promised myself to take the time to do so.

So if you made it through this silly spiel, I thank you very much and hope you will visit again.
